Tonight saw the latest installment of the excesses of Party Politics in local government.

Conservative Leader Cllr MacLoughlin told the Echo that it had been 'concluded there was no wrong-doing over the casino deal.' And so, Adrian Fudge has now been thanked properly for 20 years service to this town as a Councillor.

A documentary last week looked at road (motorway) building over the last few decades, and the pain it'd caused in the communities that they ran through.

There was quite a large amount of media coverage this week following the publication of the English Waste strategy.

Wed 23rd May 2007:

The cabinet debated the Lansdowne strategy today. 'We need meaningful consultation' said Cllr Beesley.

The Bournemouth Council cabinet meeting today showed what a pickle the Conservatives have got themselves into.

Wed 16th May 2007:

The Cabinet will shortly consider a document which considers the options for major improvements to the whole Lansdowne area.

One ambition I had, if re-elected, was to attempt to introduce carbon budgets at the Council.

Thu 10th May 2007:

Councillors are supposed to make decisions based on the merits of the decision, not on party political lines. Thus, when Full Council voted to proceed with a Large Casino license application, it got cross party support. A large casino would be bigger than the proposals currently on the table. But, as Bournemouth didn't get a license, the developers/operators are seeking a normal casino license from the Magistrates Court.

Fri 4th May 2007:

I'd like to thank all the residents who voted for me in the election. Like the vast majority of the Lib Dem group, I lost my seat. We're down the seven Councillors - the Conservatives are in charge now. I think local people made a good choice in electing Lisa Northover.

Sat 28th Apr 2007:

The Bournemouth Society for the Visually Impaired reports in its latest newsletter that the some of the real time bus information displays being installed on main routes in Bournemouth have an additional audio feature.

The Local Government Association is warning that we're running out of holes in the ground to shove rubbish into; already 109 square miles of the UK (the size of Warwick) is taken up by landfill, and we'll have run out of holes within nine years.
